Very rare species

A tall, solitary palm with a robust, smooth, prominently ringed trunk. The neat crown of glossy, pinnate leaves is supported by a slightly bulging, intricately marked crownshaft. It is native to the Island of New Caledonia, where it grows in rainforest on serpentine soils. In cultivation it prefers a tropical or frost-free subtropical climate.
