    Northern Jelly Palm

    The rare, true Butia capitata is a smallish palm native only to the highlands of central Brazil in the states of Bahia, Goiás and Minas Gerais and not to be confused with B. odorata from southern Brazil. Butia odorata in cultivation is common and invariably and mistakenly labeled Butia capitata. The true Butia capitata however is uncommon in the wild and exceedingly rare in cultivation.
