Pumbo Wax Palm
A slender, tall species, native mainly to the Amazon side of the Andes in Ecuador where it grows in cloud forest around 2000 m (6500 ft.) a.s.l. In habit it resembles C. alpinum, sporting a circular crown of gracefully arching leaves with pendulous leaflets that are dark green above and silvery below, and a tall, whitish trunk. C. echinulatum is virtually unknown in cultivation but should adapt well to mild temperate and subtropical climates.
