Attalea allenii

Very rare species

A small Attalea from lowland rainforests in Panama and northwestern Colombia with an underground trunk and ascending, plumose leaves. Young plants are particularly attractive with a large upper portion of the leaf undivided. The very large, edible seeds are held on a short inflorescence close to the ground.
